ESTONIAN TEAM

The Estonian team's dissemination event took place on the 2nd of December in Tartu, Estonia. The event was held during Anastassia's ecology class at the Estonian University of Life Science. Since she studies environmental protection and sustainability, she not only introduced the project itself but also spoke a little bit about Cyprus' nature and also the positive developments for a more sustainable and inclusive city (Molos in Limassol). In addition, she highlighted the concerns that remain. The event lasted for 60 minutes (+ another 20 for questions) with a total of 17 youngsters (plus one presenter). The participants were mostly Anastassia's classmates. Since our group was not able to gather for the event, we divided the dissemination process into two parts: 1. conjoint preparation of the event and 2. spot implementation by our team member Anastassia. For the first part, we met through Zoom in order to discuss the highlights of the training, the most memorable games/ activities (which could also be implemented in the dissemination event) as well as to repeat the main aims and outcomes of the training. By the end of the 1.5h virtual meeting, we had a good plan and structure for the event which would happen a week after our virtual meeting.

For the dissemination event, we decided to prepare an introductory presentation with a PowerPoint to give a great understanding of ERASMUS plus youth programs and the week in Pissouri, Cyprus. The first part of the presentation introduced the ERASMUS plus concept in general and the participation opportunities, gave an overview of REDIEL training and its, purpose as well as briefly introduced the hosting organization ACPELIA and NYH, the local organization we represented.

The second part of the presentation was more specifically focused on the week in Pissouri. The most memorable activities were discussed together with their aims as well as personal comments and feedback (on each activity) from our team members. Each slide was accompanied by an illustrative and explanatory picture from the training course. For a more personal and engaging touch, our presenter showed the class some of the videos that were taken during the week so that a better understanding of the activities and a more "real" feeling of the productive week would be transmitted to the audience.

After the informative part of the dissemination event, it was time for more active participation. Since the event took part during an ecology lecture, a  nature-protection/inclusion-themed activity seemed to fit perfectly with the concept of the class. For the interactive part, we decided to implement a short version of the workshop we had during the training course on Thursday morning ("Diversity and Inclusion in Molos" carried out by Eleni). In this activity, participants had to reflect on their favorite outdoor place in Estonia and bring out the positive aspects (keeping in mind inclusion, diversity, environmental protection, and sustainability) as well as the yet-to-be-improved aspects.

To wrap the event up, the class had the chance to ask questions from Anastassia. This part went a bit longer than expected since the participants were extremely interested in the ERASMUS opportunities and wanted to learn more about the participation ways and how to find a suitable project and sending organizations. Even though our team was not able to be there in full composition, our presenter did an excellent job with the collaboratively prepared presentation and the event turned out successful.

PARTICIPANTS' IMPRESSIONS FROM THE PROJECT:

Leo Kulisch

From 14.11.2022 to 21.11.2022, I was a participant of the training course "Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations" (REDIEL). It was organized by ACPELIA and took place in Pissouri, Limassol, Cyprus. The aim of the project was to educate participants about the various forms of discrimination that persist - also in environmental locations. Various activities took place to reconnect with those locations and use them as tools to fight existing discrimination. As a youth worker and psychologist, I previously used the positive influence nature can have on people when working with children and youth. The training course opened my eyes to the inherent potential for discrimination of marginalized groups in environmental locations. I had not been aware of many issues. I got new ideas about possible actions to reduce the exclusion some people face in public spaces. Moreover, I felt empowered by the training course to create future activities to promote environmental protection, mental health, disability rights and civil society activism. The training course by ACPELIA helped me develop various important personal and professional skills.

I was a participant in a one-week-long training course "Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations" (REDIEL) in November 2022, which took place in Pissouri, Cyprus and was organized and led by the local organization ACPELIA.

Although I have participated in Erasmus training courses before, this one was different. We had first meeting before the training course started and we also had a home assignment. The training course was really well organized. During the week we had lot of outdoor activities and different workshops. I loved the assignments that we had in Pissouri village and in Limassol. I learned a lot about discrimination in outdoor spaces, in environmental locations.

I loved every aspect of this training course, it gave me lot of new ideas and thoughts I even didn´t thought about it before, now I can understand more the people who are discriminated in some way. During the course, I also got to meet good-hearted people from different countries, learn about their cultures and I had lot's of fun.

Thank you ACPELIA for the amazing and valuable training course.

In November 2022, I was a participant in a one-week-long training course "Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations" (REDIEL) which took place in Pissouri, Cyprus and was organized and led by the local organization ACPELIA. The training was focused on connecting the participants with nature and drawing attention to public spaces in the participating countries which exclude certain citizens (with disabilities, mobility difficulties). Together, throughout the week, the trainees tried to come up with possible solutions and suggested changes to the exciting socio-spatial problems in cities. During the week, I learned how to notice the places of concern in public spaces which (to a person without a mobile difficulty) may stay unnoticed. Thanks to the training course, I will be able to better my local community and share my newly acquired skills and techniques. Additionally, the week in Pissouri helped me to understand the necessity of a supportive and inclusive society which accepts and accommodates all its members' needs.

I am very grateful to ACPELIA for the informative and productive week.

So I took part in a project called "REDIEL", which stands for Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations. The topic of the project was about how we can extend diverse and inclusive environmental locations, reconnect with nature through mindfulness and outdoor activities.

Biggest learning moment for me was probably the part, when I realized that this project is changing something in me. Reconnecting with nature really helps to open up and show your real emotions, by accepting who you really are. It did not only help me with my studies (because I'm studying nature at my University) but also created some important connections.

This project also made me realize that there are a lot of things in this world that can be improved, so I'm ready to share the knowledge that I got from the project!

These kinds of projects are not only educating, but also help you find a lot of friends and new connections around the world. So I'm really thankful for the opportunity that I have been provided. Again, big thanks to the organizers.
