CROATIAN TEAM

On Monday, November 28, 2022, Croatian representatives of the REDIEL Cyprus project had the opportunity to hold a mini-lecture, dissemination, and creative workshop about their experience in Cyprus, to the students of the secondary school of Economics and administration in Osijek. We started the entire dissemination with a short presentation of the project and the topic of the project we were on. We continued the lecture with a joint energizer and held a mini-lecture on the inclusion of environmental locations, after which the students were given the task of drawing their favourite public space and thinking about what makes it or does not make it inclusive and how it could be improved. After a short task, the students were divided into groups of four where everyone had to explain their chosen space to their team, and through teamwork and with a little help from our Croatian team, they came up with some ideas and solutions through discussion and chose one space per team to work on. In the end, each team needed to present their public space to the others and explain how they decided to improve it and make it more inclusive and accessible to everyone. After the presentations, we ended the lecture by giving them basic information on how they can join similar projects and showed them how we spent our free time on the project, through joint photos and videos.

PARTICIPANTS' IMPRESSIONS FROM THE PROJECT:

LAURA ILIČIĆ

The project was in a great location and about a really interesting and important topic. What I liked the most, was the fact that it was not just for training our minds and thinking, but also for developing ourselves physically and spiritually. Lecturers were taking care of us on all levels and they made it feel like home. I enjoyed all the activities in nature and outside as well because I think that with the fast life habits we all have, we easily forget to stop and just look, and see what's around us and what's the most important part of life. I loved intercultural nights and I think it's a very good way to get closer to other people's cultures and countries and learn and have fun through non-formal education. In the end, a very important and interesting part for me was networking and meeting new people with which I can easily see myself collaborating in the future.

ANTONIA KNEŽEVIĆ

I was participating in the training course "Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations" (REDIEL). It took place from 14th to 21st November 2022 in Pissouri, Limassol, Cyprus. This Erasmus+ project was organized by A.C.P.E.L.I.A.

The training gathered 36 participants from nine different countries: Cyprus, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, and Croatia. We worked on ideas about extending diverse and inclusive environmental locations. We were reconnecting with nature through mindfulness and outdoor activities. We also learned more about historical oppression and discrimination.

I am very grateful for this opportunity. I developed my emotional awareness about this issue, I also gained the competencies and necessary tools needed to help to improve this situation.

FILIP CICA

I participated in the REDIEL (Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations) training course organized by ACPELIA in Pissouri, Limasol, Cypruss. In the span of the course I learned and realized many things. As part of the course we visited Limasol and Pissouri and were encouraged to observe things and people. The course brought to my attention various things that I never actually thought about. I learned about various subtle forms of discrimination and some ways of fixing them. Furthermore, I learned about bigger forms of discrimination and what could be done about them. I realized that Diversity and Inclusion are ambitious but achievable goals that we should strive for.

KATARINA SESAR

From November 14th to November 21st, I was participating in the Erasmus+ project called REDIEL (Re-Establish Diversity and Inclusion in Environmental Locations) in Pissouri, Cyprus. This was my first Erasmus+ project and I enjoyed every second of it. Our organizers from ACPELIA prepared some really fun, interactive, and educational workshops. It wasn't until I came home that I realized how much this project influenced my way of thinking and perceiving life around me. I learned some really valuable lessons there that I will cherish in the future. On this project, I met people from different countries and different cultures, with whom I quickly became good friends. I am still in contact with many of them and I believe that soon we will have the opportunity to see each other in person. I am very thankful to ACPELIA for this wonderful experience and I hope we will continue to cooperate in the future.

TOMISLAV KOVAČEVIĆ

Participation in the REDIEL project is my first Erasmus Plus experience. I liked the concept of non-formal education. The organizers made sure that we were comfortable with good accommodation, food and drinks. The workshops were well organized and motivated me to step out of my comfort zone. I learned to look at the world differently in terms of inclusion and discrimination of different types of people. This project reminded me that I must not forget to put myself in other people's shoes in order to see situations and other people's perspectives and thus make better decisions. In fact there were participants from 9 countries, I had the opportunity to observe cultural differences first hand and learn something about their country in conversation with the participants. Also, I am glad that, together with my team, I was able to spread the knowledge gained from the project to people from the local community after returning home.
